NFL says Nielsen’s new co-viewing measure was rushed and “muddled”

Nielsen rolled out a wearable-device co-viewing methodology this week, but the NFL calls it overly rushed and only a partial fix covering a third of the affected audience. The league is publicly pushing for further changes, including out-of-home viewing adjustments.

Why it matters. Nielsen’s dependence on the NFL’s business gives the league room to keep forcing methodology changes that inflate its audience numbers.
