Public radio’s audience gains split sharply by format, RRC finds
Radio Research Consortium analysis shows News/Talk, Contemporary Christian and Classical gaining in PPM markets even after adjusting for Nielsen’s three-minute qualifier change. In diary markets, Contemporary Christian and AAA are the strongest growth stories while News/Talk stays flat.
Why it matters. Stations now have format-level proof that audience gains are real growth and not just an artifact of Nielsen’s methodology change, strengthening their case to advertisers and underwriters.
